Who's behind NRG Sense

I'm Vinh. I was born and raised in South Carolina and settled in Charleston after eight years in the Marine Corps. I've been into tech my whole life — building computers as a kid, teaching myself to program — and in the Corps I worked with electronics, telecommunications, and radios. Since 2007 I've supported Department of Defense projects as a Systems Engineer, designing systems to be efficient and secure.

NRG Sense started with my own house. When I looked into a home battery, most of the advice online was written to sell me something — inflated payback, a “30% tax credit” that no longer exists, and little mention of the catches. So I built the tool I believe can help others: it reads your actual Dominion bill and shows what a battery does for your home at today's prices — including when it isn't worth it.

I don't install systems or sell hardware. I run this exact setup in my own home — see my system and monthly bills — and I'm upfront about how the site makes money. The goal is to give Charleston homeowners a straight answer they can act on.
